Karen Marguth Quintet at The Sound Room
A Bay Area resident for most of her life, Karen Marguth has been receiving rave reviews since the release of her eponymous album in 2009. Jazz Magazine wrote: "Great big talent, much too small a pond...Karen is one of the finest American jazz vocalists you've likely yet to discover." DownBeat gave her album a rare four-and-a-half stars, saying she's "...a spiritual grandchild of hipness highness Annie Ross. She swings fiercely, and scats with a proper abandon." And Jazz Magazine of France included her on their list of the 101 best chanteuses of all time, saying "She has all the qualities of a great jazz singer."
Last year, Andrew Gilbert listed her bass/vox duo album among his list of the Best of the Bay Area, 2015.
Bay Area native Matt Finders was a long-time member of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno band and Clark Terry's Big band, and has also played with Branford Marsalis, Natalie Cole, Sting, Harry Connick Jr., Toshiko Akiyoshi, Bob Mintzer, and many others.
Guido Fazio has performed with and backed entertainers and renowned jazz artists, including Steve Allen, Phyllis Diller, Mel Torme, Patsy Cline, Sarah Vaughn, Rich Little, Louis Bellson, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Bill Watrous, Phil Woods, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Bruce Forman and Gordon Goodwin.
Kelly Fasman has performed with Kenny Loggins, The Moody Blues, Joan Baez, and Joan Rivers. House drummer for The American Musical Theatre of San Jose for 17 years, she also plays for Teatro Zinzanni, Broadway by the Bay, and Theatreworks. She played with the Montclaire Women's big Band at the 2005 Grammy Awards, and toured and recorded with Musical Circus Fantasia in Japan and 'Dreamgirls' on the West Coast.
