For most of the country, Ellis Marsalis, Jr. is best known as the patriarch of America’s first family of jazz. But back home in New Orleans, the masterful pianist is a Friday night regular at Snug Harbor, where he draws on more than 50 years as a jazz musician. Now the rest of us get to share the fun thanks to the newest project from his second son, trombonist Delfeayo. The Last Southern Gentlemen brings blues, ballads and grooves together to pay tribute to the sweet, gentle sounds of the South.
